Hi, I’m Jo, and for over two decades, I’ve been on a mission to guide and support women through the complexities of life and their personal relationships. Little did I know that when perimenopause and midlife collided in my own journey, things would take a challenging and messy turn!
Here I was, juggling the increasing care needs for my father, navigating the hormonal rollercoaster of teenagers, and feeling the weight of perimenopause dragging me down. From anxiety-triggered hot flushes to memory lapses on coaching calls, I found myself juggling the demands of everyday life feeling inexplicably exhausted, and having to think twice as hard as normal, to keep up.
Perimenopause had stealthily settled in, and I honestly didn’t fully join the dots until I hit 50. For five years, seemingly unrelated symptoms took a toll on my wellbeing resulting in driving anxiety, stressful shopping experiences, a sudden spare tyre look around my middle, and horrible hair-trigger moments of anger and rage which caught me off-guard. Living in what felt like a pressure cooker, I finally twigged that when a bout of overactive, anxious thoughts started to get my attention, I inadvertently triggered a cascade of intensified perimenopausal symptoms.
That single, powerful insight changed everything, and led to a much stronger personal appreciation of the mind-body connection. The more I let my thoughts be, the more quickly they passed on through, my mind felt relaxed and the hormonal haywire feeling calmed down considerably.
It’s hard to describe how incredible it feels to regain the mental bandwidth to focus on what you want, and find a clear direction with the mental, emotional and physical energy to put plans into action. This is the exciting shift I see happening for my clients too. The mental fog clears, the clarity returns and with it a greater feeling of patience and renewed confidence. Perimenopause gets to play out more in the background of life rather than taking centre stage, and taking over.
So if you’d love some help to navigate the ‘Messy Middle’ years and find yourself after a period of feeling stuck and confused, lacking direction and drive; if you secretly want to find the reset button to refresh your relationship or you feel misunderstood in the midst of perimenopausal mayhem, then I’m here to help.
